Having an issue with a unique overflow problem and I would like to plug it up with Weld on, preferably # 16 . Of course, no one local has it...

Will replace with a brand new one or just give you the cash, but can't get the weld on until next week...

Anyone in the Plymouth area wanna help a brother out?

I have this stuff…. I live in Pembroke

Who's the manufacturer of the aquarium, if it's like marineland, aga or something similar, they're more than likely abs not acrylic. You can order weldon from Amazon or call one of the plastic suppliers near you I know Palco Plastics the next town from me sells it and Altec Plastics in South Boston does as well.

I have a tube of weldon 16 located in Bridgewater be around tomorrow if you want to swing by

I am not sure who makes the tank. We just got it used.

I tried to fuse a piece if a bulkhead to the top with a pvc cement and it did not take. Thinking it’s acrylic.

If it is ABS, you’re in luck. Super easy to weld ABS together with acetone. Instructions on YouTube

I was able to get some weld on #16 this morning. THANK YOU PUGZ508!

I tested a small piece of acrylic and a small piece of a bulkhead nut I cut off and both seem to fuse.

In a perfect world I would just fuse a bulkhead with a plug in it with the weld on. Does weld on work with other items aside from acrylic

Mixing materials and WO varies. I've used #16 to bond PVC parts to Acrylic and had no problems (Ca reactor never leaked, still functional 10 yrs later). Not sure about ABS though.

As you're already onto, test and see how it goes.

*looking at the picture in your other thread again. Looks like acrylic to me based on thickness and the cut hole. Don't quote me on that, but it's possible.

You could always go to hd or Lowes and get a small square of glass and silicone it in place. Will it bond as well as abs to abs, don't think so, but with the pressure of the water pushing it against the hole on the outside of the weir box (inside display) it should hold up just fine.

The test I did this am with acrylic to the inside panel is holding up well. I cannot get it to budge and I didn’t even clean it first.

I cut a piece of acrylic and heatformed it to the inside. Now to weld on.

Here goes nothing, wish me luck
