Bio cube Questions. (Not the tanks)

How long do these last in a tank before needing change out?

Can you take them out and rinse them and put them back in?

Can they harbor nitrites, nitrates etc if they stay in to long?

i use a piece of egg crate in 2nd chamber with filter floss i tossed the sponge and the bio filter. floss is alot cheper and u can change often
