Bubble Algae hardness....

I'm trying to pierce what I suppose is a blob of bubble algae. I'm using the cut airline trick, but I can't pierce the skin of the blob.

How hard is bubble algae?

I'm fairly certain I've identified properly. I've seen bubble algae lots of times.. In B's nano at Skipton's...

They can get pretty firm when they expand alot. I found it works well with a toothpick taped to a gravel vac. You pierce it while your sucking the spores up.

yea, did it work? I can't take credit for the idea. B gave me the idea. It worked for me on my old tank. That and pep shrimps that took care of the small ones.

Myself I've have just plucked them off....intact.

I've had some pretty firm ones to deal with and I just poked the crap out of them

I've also done this but usually by accident because with my luck if I tried to rip them off they'd pop

1/2 the time when I plucked them off, they broke because they were so firmly attached to the rocks or in a crevace.
