I will be moving by out of my appartment by the end of February. Im upgrading my 55 gallon tank to a 100 gallon tank. The demensions are 54" long by 24" wide by 16" tall. It will be a mixed reef with 2 inch sand bed 100- 150 pounds of live rock. This is the link to the tank:

I wanted to know what you I should get for equipment. My girfriend got me a calcium reactor set up. It should arrive on thursday of this week.

Im still debating on the lighting that I am going to use. I wanted to go with T5 again. I was thinking about going with a 8 bulb sun blaze fixture or a 8 bulb tek. What do you guys think?

Also, whats a good skimmer for this tank?

Thanks for your help.

go with the tek it is the best fixture i have ever bought and you seen it over my 120 and i keep sps, lps, softies, and clams.
reef octopuse 250 is what i use and it pulls realy black waiste out of the water.
use your 55 as a sump give more water, and more space for skimmers and other stuff and you do not have to buy an other tank for a sump.

I think I am going to consign the tek fixture it looks very well built. What are you using to keep the bulbs cool? Also which skimmer? There are a lot of reef octopus 250.

These are the skimmers that I'm looking at:

Are their any other skimmers that I should look at around the $300-$400 dollar range? Which type of skimmer is a better choice? Thanks Jen and/or Josh for you help.

Wouldn't that skimmer be too small for my tank? I thought skimmers were under rated. That's why I was planning on going with on 2-3 times the tank tank size.

that's a very nice tank I seen it in person I loved it. That's a great upgrade from your 55.

Yeah it has a lot more room than the 55. The 55 is too narrow.

Bump still undecided on lights and skimmer. Are their any other choices of lights that I should consider?

As far as lights go I'm very happy with my 6 bulb Tek T5 so think a 8 bulb T5 Tek will be great depending on the color combo you go with?
And I think that Reef octopus skimmer is a good relabel one just get one that 2-3 time your system. O and the bubble king is another great skimmer.

I wish I could get a bubble king. just trying to sell my liver first to try to gather funds for it. Lol

I'm almost sold on the tek but and thinking it would be a litle over kill due to the 16 inch height of the tank. I would go with 4 ati blue plus, 2 aquablue, 2 Fiji puple. I have two blue plus, Fiji purple, and aqua blue on my fixture now and I love the look.

The tek is going to cost me 380+ 200 bulbs+ 100 fans + 28 hang kit. Just want to know my options before I spend $708 on a fixture. The price keeps me thinking that their might be something better, cheaper. $708 is a lot of coral colonies.

Nvm on the $708 I just added it all up and got $470 for the fixture, 4 bulbs (I have 4 new ones), hang kit, and air king fan.

That has great ratings too. I just started two new threads to see what everyone thinks.

Well I fount the reefoctopus that I wanted used this thing is a beast!!!

This is the calcium reactor. I'm trying it out on my 55 galoon. It's a lot smaller than I thought. It is rated for up to 300 so it should work well.

Well I'm moving on thursday this month so I started on the stand for the tank. I used 2 by 4s to build the frame for the tank. I'm still missing a few across the top and the bottom but will get to it later today. I'm covering the frame with birch. Don't judge until it's finished lol
