Just upgraded from my 34 deep blue cube to a 50 gallon. We were looking for a tank that gave us more real estate, but didn't dominate the space like a 75 or 90 would. With the plumbing out of the back the tank only comes 17" off the wall, and is 48" long.
I diy'd everything but the doser skimmer and tank's themselves, I suck at cabinets so all doors are held in place with magnets which works surprisingly well.
The DEETS: 10g sump, SCA 150 skimmer, Jebao powerhead and 4 channel doser, 4x24" deep blue t5's, 1x150 watt MH on one side and diy LED's on the other. Gotta get the second MH now
What makes this build unique I think my controller is a raspberry pi + arduino. The pi communicates with the arduino over usb.
This weekend is mount the doser, and upgrade my pi to the pi3 with a 5" screen
The current pi runs double float switches, and one temp probe to control the outlet box, the new pi is running three probes with a slick php/mysql interface I found online.
