Adding sand after tank is set up

I've decided I want my sand bed to be deeper. Is there any reason why I can't just throw another inch or so in my tank?

I wouldn't worry. I did it in my 55 and it worked out fine. Pour it in through a piece of pvc pipe and you wont get a sandstorm

I have another question. Should you rinse Southdown before adding it?

You'll get less cloudiness if you rinse it, but it is tedious to do IMO.
