algae clumps

performed a 15% water change (w/ RO/DI) about 4 hours ago and noticed that the red algae I had (I think cyano) is starting to show bubbles..I tried to scrape some of the algae off the walls and it's comming off in clumps and slowly the color looks like it is getting washed out. Is this a good sign? Also, I took out my carbon pads trying to help with the nitrate problem, so how should i get the clumps out that are floating around?!?!?
Help...

Try to siphon it out. or use your hand and try to get out as much as possible. GL.
