anyone light thier sump?

guy at the local fish store told me I should put a light on my sump (my sump holds rock rubble/equipment). does anyone else light thier sump?

right now on my sump I have x2 18" lights on 24 hours

I do... but my fuge is in there. If you don't have any photosynthetic needs, I'd not worry about it.

IME, I don't think pods need light, my sump was dark for several months with just LR and it was crawling with pods, and sponges of different sorts.

Naw...pods actually like it dark(er). Most people who have "pod farms" like I do keep little to no light on them whatsoever. I have two. One tank has Chaeto in there too, so I light it with normal lighting. The other is just rock, sand and pods. That one is unlit.

As a matter of fact, if you have a stand alone "pod farm" that is not plumbed into your greater system, and it is in a room that is kept at "room temp", you don't even need a heater!
