BTA, to bubble or not to bubble that is the question..

What makes them bubble or not?

I have a BTA that I've had for maybe 3 years, about a year ago it split into 4, and now a few weeks ago they started bubbling almost all day on a regular basis.

They have a mind of their own, not sure if there is any explanation.

I've had some that do and some that don't in the same tank, one thing I can say is the splits from the one that bubbled all bubbled.

Interesting. I have 2 RBTA and 10 BTA (all from one BTA). All of these are in the same tank. Both RBTA don't bubble at all and a couple BTA's bubble and the rest don't. Some of the BTA's even have half bubble half not. I always wondered what determined it but it seems random.

The last one that I had would bubble up under less flow. If I turned up the flow it would thin right out.

Mine started bubbling once I got the tank's water conditions even better...
