Cleaning old coraline algae

I am trying to clean some coralline algae off of a 55 gallon tank I got. I know most people use vinegar to dissolve it off, but at what concentration do you use (IE how much can I dilute it)? Does it begin to soften and become easier to scrape off? Obviously tons of variables, but what kind of time frame are we looking at?

it is actually easier for me to scrape the dry coraline algae off using a razor blade. Then I used the white vinegar from Costco straight to dissolve the rest.
