Cyanobacteria and link to ALS?

Before you all freak out, please consider these:
1. It is a hypothesis, not yet have direct evidence.
2. The data point of the said analysis is very tiny
3. 6,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS each year, among a population of 324 millions currently.
vs
1.6 million new cancer cases diagnosed each year,
32 thousand people died in car crash each year,

Another fact to consider, we are not eating what is in our tanks.
But siphoning water using mouth is risky.
Chronic dietary exposure of the suspected amino acid beta-Methylamino-L-alanine is the proposed suspect.
