Deep Blue 80 gallon rimless build

I started this hobby in 2009 with a 46 gallon bow front and soon upgraded to a 75 gallon (Marineland). Ran both of those tanks on canister filters and a sea clone skimmer. I later upgraded the 75 gallon by drilling it and adding a sump and soon after I became a reefer and its been all down hill from there!

My previous two tanks were handed down to me and came with scratches and chipped glass. I was sick of looking at the scratches on the 75 and have been looking for a brand new tank. My wife decided on our anniversary to buy me a new tank and picked the Deep Blue 80 gallon rimless with the help of my sister. The tank was purchased from another BRS member (wpeterson). Soon after buying the tank I began building the stand which came out beautiful!

The equipment that is being used is:

Deep Blue 80 gallon rimless
20L Sump
SCA-302 Skimmer
Jebao DC-3000
BRS dual reactor
TLF reactor
Reefbreeder Photon 24

The light is a little small and is a loner. Ill be upgrading to the Photon 32 or 48 in the next couple of weeks because it is such an awesome light. I will also be adding a 10 gallon refugium.

Stay tuned for updates and any comments are welcome.

Stand is made of 3/4 cabinet grade maple plywood. Doors are held on with rare earth magnets that I drilled into the corners and secured with epoxy.

It looks great! Keep it up. I have the same tank. I am excited to see how you aqua scape it. Is the extra tank in the sump your QT tank?

The extra tank is my top off. I keep my QT in my basement to minimze risk of medication getting in my display and there is less movement down there and i think that helps reduce stress with new arrivals.

Very cool! Love that 80 rimless. My wife & I have talked about getting this very tank someday, if we ever get a place of our own (so tired of renting).

Rocks fish and corals added tonight!

Well I added the rocks fish and corals tonight. Everything looks great and the corals opened right up. Most of the rock is established but I made some of the DIY rock that came out looking awesome! Lost one turbo snail in the transition and I have not seen the Orchid Dottyback since I put her back in the tank but everything else is accounted for. Im hoping that the dottyback is just hiding cause she is stressed but everyone else came out to play after the water cleared a little. I put my chaeto in a breeder box with some light and water flow until I build the new refugium hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Im not thrilled about the aquascape and it will be changing but this is about how its going to look. My wife really likes the look of the rock wall with caves so she is going to get what she wants so I can continue in this hobby that I love so much.

Anyway enough talk here are some pictures and as always a little constructive criticism is always welcome.
