FW Dip for refugium algae

I picked up a variety of algae for my fug from someone that has flatworms.

As I am not fond of the tiny creatures I want to treat the algae before I put it into my sump.

I know Flat Worm Exit is the recommended killer for them but I only need to treat about 2 - 3 gallons of water that the algae is in and the smallet they sell FWX is in 300g. kind of a waste.

So will a fresh water dip kill the flat worms? and will it kill the good algae? I am pretty sure it does kill flatworms but I don't really want to kill the good algae (caulerpa, and chaeto)

any suggestions?

Here's a suggestion -

Take the time to pick all the caulerpa out of your macroalgae and go with straight chaeto. I don't consider caulerpa "good". It can take over your tank.

I'd just say get it from someone without the bugs, and prevent problems later. Also x2 on the caulerpa does get crazy really fast.

You're not too far from me.
If you need some chaeto shoot me a PM.
You could also try dipping 1/4 of the stuff you have and see what the outcome is.

id ditch it and get pest free chaeto the fw will kill all the pods as well
caluerpa can go sexual and "melt" releasing all the absorbed nutrients
also if it makes it to the DT good luck

Warm FW will dissolve FW's very quickly, but I'm not sure how they reproduce, if it's eggs, it might not kill them.

I agree with the others, get some clean Cheato.
