Glass top

My tank has a glass top & I sit my LEDs on the glass via little feet. I know myself from my car or house ultraviolet & red spectrum won't pass thru glass (I think). Anyway should I replace the top w/screen or egg crate?
The tank is triangular & has a weird configuration with a folding front flap, that's why I never did anything before.
Will it matter?

Glass tops restrict air/water contact and eventually lighting as they get salt creep.
I would definitely remove them,unless you have jumpers.
One configuration is to hang them(sometimes this can cause blinding by the lights).
Second would be to build some kind of a hood to house the LEDs in.

There is a video there that shows how to make a top, it's really easy and has been a good solution for us. Not sure if this will work on a triangular tank such as yours but if not you may be able to improvise.
