Help me pick a sump for my 72G.

I have a 72G bow front that is not drilled so I will be using a HOB overflow box.

What sumps would you guys recommend and which ones should I stay away from?

Thanks,
Jim

Is the tank already set up? The 72 bow stand is somewhat restricting as to what will fit after the fact.

I will be following this thread because I am looking to get a 72 gallon bow front up and running also.

Contact Gustavo (NeO on here) and have him build you an acrylic sump to your dimensions. He does great work!

I could not fit a 20 gal? even w/ 7" of clearance behind the tank - missed it by about 1/2".

One option although I'm not advising it would be to drain 1/2 the water and slide the tank if you can w/ a few folks (SLOWLY) and try and go in from the back.

Others might have a better suggestion.

If I drain the tank I may just drill it. The only problem with doing this is finding a place for the livestock.

I Have approximately 6" of clearance behind the tank.

I echo the sentiments above. NeO built my 72's sumps, with a real PITA stand set up, and they worked like a charm.

Well, I'm going to drain 1/2 and drill the tank.

NeO recommended this instead of a HOB overflow.

I'm going with the Aquac ev180 skimmer in the sump.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Jim
