Maxima Clam "ejecting" Byssal Organ???

I have a Tridacna maxima, brand new from a LFS... it has been in the tank about a week or so. Today I noticed that the clam's byssal threads, and perhaps the entire organ, are sitting on the rubble next to the clam... the clam itself does not appear to have moved. Other than this, the clam does not appear to be damaged, although the mantle on the side nearest the byssal opening is less extended than the rest.

I have other clams, and all are doing fine... one has been in the tank about a year, the others long enough to convince me they are doing fine and growing well...

Has anyone ever had this happen? To what can I attribute this? Does this mean the end for the clam?

If there is any way to help the clam, I would appreciate it. :.

perhaps that is the reason... I will watch to see where it is moving to... perhaps I will move it myself to a brighter area... could be water flow is too high too, I suppose...

I dont want to traumatize it, so I will make the moves small ones...

Seems that the Maxima clam has actually reattached to a piece of rock... so its organ is okay...
