Mini LED light for daughters tank

I was looking at the Kessil led light and said "man that is a nice light and easy to make " So I tried it out. LMK what you guys think.

This LED has 5 3w leds 1 @ Red(660nm) 2 @ blue (460nm)and 2 @ white (1@6500k and 1@10000k). I Used a small driver I bought on ebay, and I used the heat sink and fan from an old computer. The tubing I used was aluminum and the caps were made from abs sheets. I did have a small misshap when starting, my cutter decided to eat my first tube as seen in pic 1:eek:

I am thinking I should put some 90 degree optics to cut down on the extra light coming off the sides. Im also making a 40w 4 @ ten watt led light the same size. probably for my frag tank.

Looks nice, I was just thinking have you thought of trying the multi-chip LEDs similar to this http://stores.ebay.com/acrc/category3018047018-/_i.html?_fsub=3018047018&_sid=167758548&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 They come in different color temps, and wattages also. Theres a good thread on these on RC.

Actually I was going to order three of these and make a 150w light that should be the same as the Kessil.

Here is the thread on RC that I was talking about, on either page 3 or 4 there is a nice step by step video, but seeing what you have already done you probably dont need it.

Thanks Matt,
I think I'm going to replace my 100 3 watt leds with 8 50 watt leds. such a smaller footprint and i can just put them in canisters like this light I just built. I will mill out some nice 3 inch aluminum cylinder stock to hold the leds for maximum cooling. hmmm now you got me thinking. lol Hey I got alot of this (see pic) extra just laying around I might as well use them.
