My auto top-off system

I have the same setup as you have. Only change i made is to add another floating switch in series with the first one. That way if one of them get stuck, second one will take care of possible damage. I have been using this setup for over a year without any issues.
I think cleaning the floating swiches from time to time is a key with the success of this setup.

On my next sump, I'll probably do that just because it is so easy.

I'm going to be setting up an extra top off switch on my collection canister for my skimmer soon. I was talking with Jeff at Lifereef about a bunch of ideas, and most of them simply can't work with his skimmer. So he suggested I put a float switch in the container, that once it rises it turns off the skimmer's pump. Brilliant!
