Honestly, I am not sure of the type other than your standard pulsing xenia. Nothing too fancy other than paying too much for it when i first started out . You are more than welcome to some of it.

In conjunction with what marc said about the xenia and iodine/iodide comment. Xenia also do better in tanks with more dissolved nutrients in the water. The more nutrients in the water the faster they will grow. So in reality, xenia do better in dirtier tanks then cleaner ones.
