Any idea what type of clown this is? Lfs was not even sure. Looks almost brown.

It might be a Darwin clown, although it doesn't look as dark as the ones that I have at home. Nice little fish; take it home and then tell everyone that it is a rare designer clown the retails for close to $1,000.

+1 on this the white markings show the sign of being a black ice clown juvenile

Yeah lower grade black ice juvenile. It'll turn black instead of brown over time.
