New Ballast Nova Extreme 6 x 54 t5 for 48 inch

A Nova Extreme t5 fixture has two power switches. One controls 4 bulbs while the other controls 2. The one that controls 2 bulbs may not be working. That fixture controls the fans which run, but the bulbs are not lighted. Does that mean the ballast is bad? All bulbs are ATIs and 2 months old.

However, can I put something better in? For example, Bulk Reef sells the ATI version here for 5 bucks more.

Oh, and one of the fans stopped working years ago. I can find a replacement for 25 bucks. The light fixture itself is 7 years old. ...and my birthday is coming up

I am reach out to the few who are selling fixtures... In the meantime, recommendations on ballasts.

I don't think it is worth the effort to fix a fixture by Current. You may be looking at three ballasts replacement. But you may need to replace the sockets as well.
