new macro lens

well macro was never my cup o tea but I bought a macro lens and it arrived today so here are a few test shots with it.

Camera is a Canon 40D and the lens is a Canon 100mm 2.8 L IS Macro

Pic 1 is an acan from Kevin Pratt
Pic 2 is a purple monster from pacific east aquaculture
Pic 3 is a mummy eye chalice from sexy corals
Pic 4 is a sunset monti from Reefermedic

Nice photos. Did you take those with a tripod or handheld with IS? Guessing tripod

a couple were hand held but the rest were on a tripod (I know the green micro was hand held for sure) IS was on for all of them, some were AF some MF, just kinda playing around getting a feel for the lens

Nice shots Ray.....are they under LED's? I can't for the life of me figure out a good setup for LED pics.......

it is a 250 watt SPS 14K with 12 watts of LED actinics

it's tough resisting, I was looking for a used one for under $200 and just couldnt find one so I figured if I was going to have to use a credit card I was going all out
