what do you keep in the small section on the left?

It used to be for macroalgae and a mantis shrimp, but the mantis died and I can't keep macroalgae alive so now it has a small puffer, jawfish, and some random coral. Neither of the fish would do well in the main reef tank (too much current and a trigger).
