Pumps, Wavemakers and Mineral Build-up

Happy Friday All-

In 6 months I have had mineral clogging based failures of 1 wavemaker and 1 main return pump. I cleaned them both with food grade citric acid (best deal is Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EYFKM32/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 , but I know some people will insist that everything has to say "reef" on the package ) and back up and running in no time.

Are others on preventative maintenance for soaking and cleaning pumps? What frequency?

BTW - it makes me crazy that larger packages are more expensive per lb on so many products these days.

I use food grade citric acid or vinegar to clean my pumps. I probably clean them 2-4 x a year.

I use the same citric acids. Works great.
The price difference you saw on Amazon is due to different sellers for the product.
