Question about fragging leathers

I am very tempted to frag my weeping willow leather and my devil’s hand. I’ve heard leathers can struggle after being fragged, so I’m hoping you guys can give me some advice on how best to do it. How small can I make the frags and still have them likely to survive? If there’s a real risk of killing either of them, it’s not worth it to me. Thanks!

Devils hand is pretty easy: just use a scalpel or razor blade to cut off a 1-2" finger. Generally elastic bands are best to hold it to a rock until it can heal - glue will come off a lot of the time.

Weeping willow: I would advise against fragging any toadstools as there is no clean cut so more risky. Most leathers with fingers can be fragged fairly easy as described above.

Thank you! I will skip fragging the weeping willow in that case. I was hoping to split it and add one to my second tank, but not worth killing it.

Another way of holding leathers down on plugs is using plastic toothpicks , and superglue the end of the toothpick to the substrate

Mine ended up catching a bacterial disease and was deteriorating and I fragged it by cutting it. And it’s now growing back again. I mean it’s going to take a while but I grew that off a small little frag.
Here are some before when it was healthy, after it was infected and the frags I have of it. Which I’m proud they’re coming back from.
All thanks to @dz6t for walking me through it when it happened to me.

have snipped many fingers of my devils hand with sharp scissors and also have collected them after they naturally fall off. Ive superglued em to frag tiles naturally dropped tend to not fall off, snipped sometimes do and then usually stick the 2nd time
