re design 180

Corwyn

I am in Raynham
OK, So I decided to completely re-design my 180g tank and sump system.

Things I want to fix;

aquascaping
internal circulation
add a second overflow
add additional returns with flex tubing

re-design sump in basement.

Current tank - 180G
the tank is built into the wall between 2 rooms. Access to tank is possible from both rooms, but the living room side is hiden with trim. The other side is more utilitarian.

| o xxx xxx xxxx xxxxxxx o

Or = 2" return to sump via pipe drilled in bottom tank.
Ur = 1" pipe using syphone U tube to return to the sump

o = 1" pipe return from dolphin 4700 to tank. Using 90 angles.
x = rocks laid out in different terraces, but basically at the same height.

I want to create a more dynamic design with more levels and a clearer
valley in the middle

The new returns -o- from the pump would use multiple flex tube outlets point ing different directions to create a more turbulent water movement around and behind the rocks.

New return to sump -O- would also be 2" pipe so that there is a return to the sump from both sides of the tank and also quite the return down.

X = new aquascaping where a new diagonal valley is created.
diagonal corners of the tank represent high ends of the rock and
creating oposing terraces with some overhangs.

My general plan.
1) Buy 150g rubbermaid tanks and use it for a temporary tank.
place all rock, corals and fish here. This will become the new sump.

2) drill tank and plum new returns. fill tank and arrange aquascaping.
I am looking for suggestions, ideas and assistance in pulling this off
in a way to ensure survival of all livestock and not have any plumbing issues.
