I have a 30 gal tank that i just cycled and i am looking to buy a HOB skimmer.
What brand is best ? Are the more expensive ones worth the extra money. I am new to all of this so any help would be welcome. Also where is the best place to purchase?

Best place to purchase is definitely from another reefer. Good used skimmers are sold on this board about every other week. You can probably pick up a CPR Prizm for $50. It'll do well for your size tank. I've heard remora's are very good, but a little more expensive.

I'd recommend either the CPR Bakpak 2 or use the Remora.
They are both nice skimmers on that size tank.
Used is good.

I used Red sea PRIZM HOB skimmer and i was pretty happy with it.

I have an Remora on my 29G that I picked up from someone here and it works great! Better then the Bacpak that was on it.
