Sump pump question

dedfish

That's Mr.Murphy to you!
Ok...I'm trying to decide if I should run my ehiem 1262 pump externally or internally inside my 29gal sump. The space is starting to get tight inside the sump and I'm trying to keep the return section as big as possible. I figured it would hold more water if I got rid of the pump inside the sump. I had originally planned on running it submerged but now I am considering plumbing it through the side of the sump kind like...

What are your thoughts?

more water not a huge amount but more and air cooled pump not water cooled (added heat)
if you really dont want to drill the sump you can run it over the top of the sump just have to T the top with a cap on it to fill the pump side of the plumbing to get the pump primed. once its primed it works on a siphon

Drilling is not an issue. I put 7 holes my 40 breeder, I can handle 1 hole in a sump. ;) Just trying to think of things I might not of.
