Sump....

So this will be my first sump build and have a few questions. Have a 75 gallon rr DT also I have an old 55 gallon tank I was thinking of using for a sump. I have an open stand with plenty of room for sump and access to all equipment. My question is a 55 gallon sump to big for the 75? Does ur sump need filter socks or will LR in the skimmer chamber be sufficient? And should a fuge be located before or after the return? Thanks

I used plans from http://www.melevsreef.com in the past. U can make a sump any which way that works for you. I like filter socks cause they keep all the crap out of the sump and you won't have to suck it all up periodically when cleaning. Check out Mel's site just search sump or sump design

Ps ya can never have too big of a sump! The more room the better
