Rookie question

Hey all,
Still new to all this....just wanted to ask a question or two here.
I mentioned to a co-worker who has a bit of experience that my crabs had eaten some of my snails. He told me that they probably don't have enough food and suggested some seaweed. I went out and bought some and not knowing how much to use, I placed a sheet of it in my tank. While the crabs loved it, I found today that it separated from the clip and I've tried to remove it now I just have a seaweed storm floating around in my tank.
Will this harm anything? How much seaweed should I use and how often?

Thanks,
Dan

I don't think it will harm anything so long as it wasn't a lot. Crabs will most likely kill your snails anyway. They are opportunistic feeders and will feed on them if the opportunity is there. They will also kill them for their shells. I leave some empty shells in my tank so that if they decide to move, they will hopefully rent one of those condos instead of stealing a snails.

I stop using full sheets becouse I am afraid that if the sheet comes loose from its support clip it may find its way on the out-flow strainer and block the water flow.

I would sugest to only place 1" wide by 4" to 6" strips in.
