sharpie ink underwater?

I'm trying to figure out a way to catalog the frags I'm raising.

Does anyone know if sharpie ink will cause any problems in the tank?

I was thinking of using plastic plant/flower tags attached to frags with fising line. My idea is to use a sharpie to write a number on a tag for each frag.

Any input? Is sharpie ink toxic at all? (I'd let it dry before putting in the tank)

what about a labeler, one of the punch labels that doesn't use any chemicals, then attaching it to the frag somehow??

Sharpies use an alcohol-based solvent, but that evaporates as soon as it dries. I don't know if the dye itself would wear away in the salt water over time, but I doubt it would be toxic. Color-coding with plastic colored toothpicks is also an option.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm looking to mark each frag somehow so I can keep track of individual ones, (ie I take 5 frags of a particular coral at the same time, joe schmoe asks me to save the one in the middle, a tag would make it a lot easier to keep track of that particular one)

The labeler sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll give that a shot.
