Has anyone tried to enlarge a 1" hole to 1.5"?

I'm looking to borrow a 1.5" glass drill bit so I can plumb my replacement pump inline. There is an existing 1" hole and I want to avoid pump cavitation.

FWIW, I do not want to use a dremel.

Anyone have one?

Joe

I don't see that you'd have any problem enlarging a hole with a hole saw. There's no pilot on those bits anyways, so it should be no different than cutting a hole in solid glass. Just keep the bit centered over the original hole.

I guess I need a 2 3/8 bit then. I doubt I will find that at a local reefers. Where is a good place online?

make a plate behind the original hole with a plug up into the old hole. when you drill you'll stay centered.

joe,
i have one (bit), and i have done it. on the old inland reef 120 display (center drain). i could do it again too :D
