So I have 2 AI Vegas for my 90 gal and was told to set them at around 45-50% so why can't I set them closer to 100% ? I know I risk killing corals but can I slowly bring them up to have more lighting and growth ? They are about 7-8'' from the water line and the closest coral is a brain that is about 5'' down from the water line. Your thoughts ??

Everything tank is different, you can't just listen to people and set the light at 45-50%. When come to light, it's all depending on what type of coral you're keeping. The club have a par meter you can borrow if you're a paying member, going by that and adjust your light % and coral placement accordingly.

If the current setup works and the coral is happy, why bump it up and waste more electricity? Not sure what type of brain you're keeping but in general, they'll be happy around 100-200 par, at least mine was and that's the number you want on your sand bed. To be honest, 2 Vega on a 4' tank is not enough coverage, IMO.
