Ok tired of searching the interwebs... anyone know where I can get one of these guys? I've got a nice size birdnest colony that's doing quite well. It is now a good home, but alas, I've not found anyone selling them.

Thoughts?

Liveaquaria has them in stock now. Too bad the 15% off is over as of yesterday.
Pricey for a tiny fragile little crab.

In the past, I was able to get Jay pulled these little crabs out of the mariculture SPS colony. Nowaday, everyone dips there shipment so the crabs don't make it after the treatment. And if they do, they didn't do a good job at the treatment.
I've learned to live without these crabs in my sps colonies.

I picked up 3 from Live Aquaria. 1 died and two made it. LA gave me a reimbursement for the one that didn't make it. They love birdsnest corals. You don't see them much since they blend well with the coral and I don't know how much they help. They are fun to rediscover in your tank from time to time.

What I have found is lots of information on the different species of Trapezia - evidently they can be pretty specific - to me looks like based on camouflage patterns probably shape too.
The birdsnest specific T.guttata has patterns of polyp dots like birdsnest coral on its legs but is otherwise pale tan.

Looks like they are labeling different species as the same thing. The upper pictures being perhaps acro or pocillopora specific (they aren't the same), the lower look like T. tigrina or T.rufopunctata

Gads this brings me back... I got a biology degree a long time ago...

I'm kinda surprised they'd play that fast and loose with identifying something like a crab.

We had one a long time ago that came with the colony and we loved that little crab - watching it feed and keep things away was pretty awesome. It was just like this
