Can mushrooms sting other coral?

just found my orange and red acan that just grew 5 new heads under my orange fire shroom. The thing grew right over the top of it and I’ve been busy so I didn’t move the acan. I didn’t realize the shroom could harm anything and I just looked... the head of the acan that touched it was all slimed up and brown, when I blew that off it revealed the skeleton. I’m going to frag in hope of saving the other polyps. Did the mushroom sting the coral, cause it sure did look like it!?

I have had discosoma mushrooms that would kill anything from euphilias, lords and gonis. I won't put them in my display ever again. So hard to get rid of.

Yeah, I’m not putting anything else close to it. Hopefully the acan comes back.
