Clown jumped

My first fish in the new tank and it leaped to it's death 6 hours after being put in tank.

The fish was a gold striped 1" clown. Is this common for clowns?

I've lost a couple of clowns due to carpet surfing. I don't believe it's common, but it does happen. Sorry for your loss.

This sucked that it was the first fish I stocked in ths tank after waiting two months to cycle.

that stinks, sorry to hear about it. My clown has never jumped in the 3 years I have had him. Unfortunately He wont be the last you lose over the years, but don't let it discourage you.

I've had 1 or 2 jump early on in my tank's career... I have some eggcrate on the top now so I don't really worry about it...

I feel your pain...I purchased 2 baby gold maroon's (< "1) from a member this past week. One jumped after 5 minutes of being in the tank and the other is MIA. I've had my tank for 14 yrs and it's the first time I've ever had a clown jump. I've had plenty of other jumpers, but never a clown.

I've had fish tanks since 1983 and never had one jump until now.
