Diatoms and frozen cyclopeeze

In a post yesterday regarding a Diatom outbreak someone mentioned a connection between feeding Cyclopeeze and Diatom outbreaks.
Is this a generally accepted idea?

( I had a statistics professor once caution that " Correlation is not causation ")

Negative.
Feeding frozen cyclopeeze does not lead to diatom outbreaks.
Silicates cause that.
Frozen cyclopeeze has helped lead to cyanobacteria outbreaks in my system if used too often,

(sounds like your statistics professor needs to change his saying to"for ever action there is a reaction"):D

possibly your water supply or sand

Yup,

I had an ongoing problem with a very light coating of diatoms on my sand for a while. After talking with a retired chemist/administrator on RC he told me that silicates could be entering the system via water changes.I guess the DI resin is the last defense against silicates getting through. If the DI resin is old and there's a TDS of say 8-10 it could be that silicates are getting through. After purchasing a brand new ro/di for my home the diatoms disappeared slowly from my system.
Also like Liam mentioned.
New stuff like sand, power heads seems to have silicates that help diatoms build their shells.
