help waste collector odor

The protein skimmer waste collector is in a cobinte with the skimmer which is creating and ungodly odor in my living room. It is a PM skimmer and collector. HOw can I stop the odor. IN the vent can I put carbon. Adviser would be apprecited thanks as always in advance

carbon would work or if you can vent the exhaust outdoors with PVC connectors and tubing.

I read in a tip in RC's Reefkeeping magazine that a sprinkle of baking soda atop the skimmate will kill the stench.

I do this and it works well for me. I actually have my skimmate going into a 7g bucket that I empty every few weeks, and even with the open top I've found by adding kalk it has no noticeable odor.

Beat me to it. The kalkwasser makes the water so alkaline that oder causing bacteria cannot live.
