So... I have a 1 year old 40 gallon breeder. My clown has been missing for 6 days now. I didnt see it on the floor, thinking it may have died and is under some rock where I cant see it. I have been checking ammonia every day, its at 0. is it possible not to see a spike. there is about 60# of LR. thanks

What else is in the tank? What do you have for scavengers?

I suspect that your average established reef tank can digest a moderate sized fish quite easily, with some good scavengers/clean up crew even more so.

Get a serpent star. They are the best thing for a reef tank. They will eat anything that dies and any food that is not eaten by the fish.

How big was the clown? I bet the tank just digested it .

check the back of the tank...maybe it jumped...or if you have overflows, check that. Otherwise, it prob was consumed..
