How many 1/4" holes needed for 300gph

What exactly are you trying to do???... likely depends upon the head.
but if you want the formula..... here it is:
Q=cA X sqrt(2gh)

Q=flowrate (in cubic feet per sec.)
c=coefficient of constriction (I believe) usually about 0.6 but not sure about a hole that small
A=area of hole (s.f.)
g = 32.2ft/sec^2
h = height of head (ft)
you'll have to convert cfs to gal/min.

I'll take a guess and say that's for a spraybar... at least that was the reason I did a similar calculation :)

In my case, what I did was calculate the area of the open pipe, calculate the area of a 3/8" hole, and then see how many 3/8" holes I needed to equal the area of the pipe... then I rounded up a bit to account for the added friction of the smaller holes... very scientific, I know :D

Well since I lost my 1/4" collet for my router which I was going to use to route slots in the divider between my sump and fuge, I figured I would just drill some holes instead.

Thanks for the formula. :) Looks like greek to me. I guess I should of worded my question more like..."Anyone want to calculate this for me?" ;)
