A friend gave me a 3 compartment acrylic sump that is 36 inches long and the compartments are 1 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot and 12 inches high what size pump and overflow do I need . I read I think that your sump pump and overflow should be 5 or 10 x your tank If it’s 5 times that’s 475 gpa if its 10x 8500 .See I think that pump is way to big . Does anyone know how big of a pump I need ? I was thinking under 1200 and a 900 gph overflow ? Little help anyone?

You have to consider head pressure if your sump is directly under your tank and you have a few elbows, t’s ect you could easily loose 1/2 your pump rating if not more.
