Ich QT Question

Summary of the backstory:
1) got two fish, tang and mandarin
2) both placed in QT (which was old 29gal still up and running)
3) tang got ich and unfortunately didn't make it
4) mandarin did not get visible ich

SO. I did not run a hyposalinity treatment on the Mandarin because he didn't have any visible ich (I know thats not 100% just by sight) and I wanted to preserve the pod population in the QT for the mandarin. It has now been 4 weeks in the QT.

The mandarin didn't show any visible sign of ich ever. After 4 weeks is it safe to move the mandarin to the DT or can ich subtly hide in Mandarin gills? Is it absolutely necessary to run some sort of treatment?

Mandarin has no scales, instead they have a thick skin with thick slime coat.
They are more resistant to ich, but a copper treatment that is safe for other fish will kill it.

hyposalinity is not 100% rid of ick and too risky.
also qt without any treatment is also not a qt.
if I setup to qt the animals, alot of times and expenses goes into to, then why not treat it.

Have you considered tank transfer method? Pretty easy and no meds, just would need a second (very basic) setup. I mean really basic - you can use a 5g bucket w/ power head and heater.
