I had read the description and it mentioned a serial cable for updating firmware, and it spoke of data-logging. I contacted Curt of Neptune Systems, and he said it does not connect to a computer to data-log. It is a special cable that connects the temperature port to a serial port that allows for uploading to the AQ Jr. new firmware.

I agree with your thoughts... for what it can do / can't do, there are much better options available at that price point.
