I think that will work Matt. Head pressure will be the same as if the pump was in the stand (since the sump water level is still ~4 feet below the display), so you can calculate flow for 4 feet of head, not 7.

There seems to be a rough trade-off between heat and noise when it comes to external pumps, so if you're concerned about heat you could get a fan-cooled pump (louder) and put it in the basement where that noise won't be heard. Also you might be wise to plumb the pump with spa-flex flexible PVC so the vibrations don't transmit to the tank or sump.
