return of the baby sea star

Scott G

MAH BALL
my mom and i purchased a tree coral about 2.5-3 months ago in the begining of our tank and my dad and i noticed a tiny seastar on the polyps

a few days later it dissapeared, so i was pretty upset (i wanted it to grow)

but just a few minutes ago, my dad is in my room looking at the tank, calls me in, and points it out! right on the same spot on the tree coral (which has grown a lot since the purchase)

i am so happy! it has grown a ton!:D

i think that it is a serpent star though i cannot be entirely sure

it's grey, but the closer i look, there are little frills on the legs (only 4 legs, cool)

maybe its a brittle

hopefully it doesnt turn out to be a green brittle star

i have a whole bunch of little white brittle stars thAT DONT GET BIGGER THAN A 1/4 OF AN INCH IN DIAMETER BUT THEY HAVE 5 LEGS the other small stars i have are a lil bigger but they have anywere from 4 to 8 legs

Does it happen to resemble one of these?
I like them too. The first one I ever found I named "Twinkle".
(Did I mention that I name all my creatures?)

PS. If yours looks like one of these, then it's an asterina star.

Oh, ok- then it's probably a mini-brittle. Those are good for your tank.

Gina - is that your pic of the astrenia stars? We could use that for the hitchhiker ID thing that's being built.

Scott G: What's a "Regal tang"? Is that a hippo tang (Paracanthurus hepatus)?

Cindy, I have so many of those tiny white seprants in my fuge that you gave me with the macro algea, there must be atleast 200 of them now, they multiply so rapidly, and I just love looking at them.
