Skimmer, Overflow, and Return Pump Questions

I took a brief (2 months or so) hiatus from pouring myself into my reef tank as I simply had too much going on. The best part about this is it happened at the same time I stopped running my HOB skimmer. My tank, as you can imagine, is more than offended and many of my corals are staging a revolt.

Which leads me to a slew of questions for you guys.

I'm going to go ahead and buy a skimmer that will work with my plans of upgrading to a 90 - 100 gallon display next year (currently have a 54).

I had heard good things about the Reef Octopus skimmers for the money and am stuck between these two

1)Recirc 110 Model: http://www.aquacave.com/reef-octopus-dnwb-110-br-recirculating-protein-br-skimmer-983.html

2) Standard 100 Model: http://www.aquacave.com/reef-octopus-nwb-110-br-needle-wheel-protein-br-skimmer-750.html

Is the recirc model (I would have it flowing directly from the HOB overflow) really worth the extra money and hassle?

I will also be buying an overflow (looking for a used CPR) to run on my current 54 until I upgrade to something RR.

I am looking for advice on GPH ratings for an overflow and how to gauge what size return pump I will need.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, forget the skimmer questions...

How should I go about matching up tank size, overflow GPH, and return pump GPH?
