Barry,
I just read about this. So sorry bud. If I'd known, I would have been over right away.
Thanks Mark
Correction cracked, when I first posted
I was under some stress and used an incorrect work of description
Sorry to hear about this. Do you know what caused this?
I have no clue.
The last two things that I did before the incident was
I have one MP40 on each side panel left and right.
Three days before the tank cracked I had moved the one pump about
half way closer to the front than the center where it was for more than a year.
it happens to be the same side that the 2' crack occurred.
Last I did a water change at 9AM the same day the tank cracked at 3:30PM
No one was near the tank when it cracked.
Although I am not a scientist, my opinion is that by moving that MP40
closer to the front rather than the center it put stress on the 1/2" thick glass.
That is the only thing that I can come up with.
That was day one.
Day 2 awoke to the smell of an electrical fire.
Saw smoke and could not locate where the fire was.
Come to find out, in the mist of trying to diligently remove
as much water as possible from the cracked tank, I had been throwing 3-4 gallons of water down the
mop sink in the laundry room.
what happen was water had got on the floor (everywhere on the floor) and it wasn't until 4 days later that I realize that the
hot and cold pipes that came thru the floor were not sealed around the pipes so water had dripped
down the pipes onto my relay that controls the heat zones in the house. The relay is mounted onto a flat board
that is mounted to the studs and that relay had caught on fire and started the insulation and plastic to be burnt as well
The relay while on fire sent a surge into the boiler that then burnt out another relay inside.
What could have been worse is that we were in Florida for 9 days before.
I am just glad we were home and not in FL.
Total nightmare
