tunze 6055 question

I have added a pair of these beauties' to my tank. I'm looking for some first hand knowledge on setting up with an apex. I have the adapter plug for the apex. What can you control with the apex? I want to have an alternating flow pattern from pmp 2 pmp. How do you set it up? Is it worth using the apex or just running the as is?

I have the 6095's and controllable cables to use my profilux to control them. You can set alternating flow with the Tunze controller. I have yet to connect mine as the factory controller works well.
