Unexplained Clam Death

RayD

The Chicago Experience!
One of my clams died this morning. It looked amazing as always yesterday and this morning it was closed up. Now I knew something was up. I reach in for it and it's pretty much a gonner. No longer attached to its rock, pieces of the foot are.

No sign of Pyramid snails at all. I checked and double checked. Any thoughts?

when clams die, it tends to be like that: absolutely no warning.

Whats your Ca/Alk/Mag like?

CA = 400 (lower than I like it but I doubt low enough to cause death).
KH = 9
MG = 1050 (definitely low)
