Mike's 270-gallon custom build

Damn! That is terrible. Let me know when things settle down and you’re ready for frags. I will give you one of every sps I have. Help get it started back up, and also to spread things around for the inevitable on my end!

It is just a basic mimic tang, this one is good size
Would you recommend that fish for a 120G? My yellow tang passed away and I'm looking for a new tang. I've tried a purple and whitetail bristletooth and both were too agressive. Thanks!

appreciate that, this is why this club is so awesome, hard to believe I stumbled across it 18 years ago...

@MikeG so terrible! Sorry to make you rehash but, was it RTN, STN, rapid bleaching, something else? How fast did they all go??
Started with burnt tips. Some corals would take months to die, others overnight. Started originally with sps that had blue coloration then eventually affected everything. Was about a 6 month period where the losses just slowly went through the tank until nothing left.

They get big, not sure it would be happy long term in a 4' tank. I added about half way through my tangs and it seems to get along with everyone. Only tang I have had an issue with is a hippo that got aggressive toward smaller fish like wrasses an clowns.

Mike, how is the tank? I know summer is usually tough for reefers. Winter is when we shine! Are you ready to toss some frags back in that thing yet?

Mike did the ICP results show anything? Trace metals? Did you try and aquabiomics test?

I hope that you can find the spark again. If I had any SPS yet I'd give you frags. Heartbreaking to lose the colonies, but you have done such an amazing job setting things up, you can definitely rise from the ashes!

Maybe add some fresh liverock for biodiversity? shut down CARX and any other dosing until you have a large ALK need again and just use Kalk for now? Check all magnets for signs of corrosion/heavy metals?

Hope all is well and that we can help you find your stoke again!

Update is I give up, it’s a fish only.

Multiple ICP tests don’t show anything out of the ordinary other than some low trace elements. No stray electricity in the tank, sps just melt away after a couple months. Thought things were good after adding about 85 more frags and over the course of 4 months have maybe 2 having on with some tissue left that will likely be gone soon.

All equipment was taken apart and cleaned inspecting for things like exposed magnets, would also expect some reading on Icp tests if that were issue

Focused on other hobbies for summer
